Toddlers thrive in places where they can feel secure, express their drive to learn, and build their competence. They rely on adults for nurturance and guidance as they learn. When toddlers receive care in a relationship that consistently meets their physical and emotional needs, that relationship becomes a base for exploration and discovery. They learn from being in close relationships in many different ways during the first few years of life.

 

They will be encouraged to imitate a variety of different actions, such as moving toy vehicles in specific ways and making the sounds of vehicles.
